How To Choose Your Business Card Color

When you are designing your new business card, you want to start by picking a good background. While it should be attractive, it is more important that it fits with the theme of your design. Too busy of a pattern will be distracting and unprofessional. Your info, not the background, is what should get noticed. You may decide to go with a template that lets you use a photo as the background.

You can use these templates to base your card on and this will give you ideas as well as speeding up the process. If you do use one with photographs, you are able to upload your own image files which lends a personal touch to your card. Of course, you need to remember some things if you decide to make or use your own graphics or photographs. If you follow these suggestions you will have a product that stands out and is professional. It’s important to reiterate the role the background plays. It can pull everything together, or it can ruin it all. Avoid anything that will be distracting or cluttered. Try to find something that is relevant. While most people do choose to have a background image, a white background or a solid color can also work well.

Fitting in all of your info is a tricky part. You need to plan both the font size and the amount of text you use. If you have a lot of words, you’ll want to go light on the visual elements. Some people think that a great contrast will make their cards stand out. This isn’t usually the case, however. Instead, readability suffers when you do this. For the most part, steer clear of things such as polka dots, neon colors, and stripes. It is too much to put on one small card.

Your goal is both readability and attractiveness. So as long as your information stands out, your background is doing its job. Consider what colors will stand out. You’ll either want a dark color on light or light text against a dark backdrop.

If you are trying to choose between possible designs, go with the more simple one. It will help you appear approachable and competent. Different color choices will send different messages. Bright colors will make you appear bold and innovative. Cool colors will seems more conservative. There is no right or wrong choice. It is simply a matter of how you want to come across. No matter what your choices are, you should never forget to go with a design that is attractive and easy to read.

It is important to choose a font that is easy to read. You should also be sure that the font will be legible in the sizes that you choose upon being printed. This is because some fonts are much harder to read when they are too small. If you are using a logo make sure that it stands out from the background colors. You will want your logo to be highly visible just like your text. Your logo is highly important. If you want your customer or client to remember it then it should stand out just as much if not more than the contact information that the card is providing.

Since your business card is a networking tool, you want to take the time needed to get it right. What it looks like will say a lot about you and your business, so make sure its message truly represents you. But don’t stress out too much, because you can always try new looks until you find the one that works best for you.
